Judith Saccardo has over twenty-five years of successful teaching and leadership experience in creating educational systems and structures that support improvements in learning for all children, especially those with learning differences.
An educator by training, Judy received her doctorate in education leadership from Boston University. She has served school children as a teacher and administrator. As a public school Director of Pupil Personnel Services, Dr. Saccardo provided leadership and oversight to the field of student support services, encompassing special education, English language learning, student health care, assessment, counseling and family resources. As part of the central office team, she successfully secured grant funding and designed and implemented numerous inclusive instructional support programs. Judy has also worked with the Rhode Island Department of Education and organized numerous statewide workshops and conferences on topics including evidence-based literacy, closing achievement gaps, family engagement, multitiered systems of student support and social/emotional/behavioral learning.
Judy was trained as a mediator by the Center for Mediation and currently serves as a Mediator for the RI Special Education Dispute Resolution Process. She espouses mediation as a non adversarial process that mends relationships and produces innovative solutions. Judy lives in Middletown with her husband and is the mother of two adult children. She is an avid golfer who also enjoys sailing and reading.
